Op 10 maart 2017 vond de eerste Vrijzinnige Lezing plaats in de Geertekerk Utrecht. Hoofdspreker was de ‘eco-theologe’ Catherine Keller van de Amerikaanse Drew University.

In the aftermath of secularization and the ambiguity of the postsecular, the “death of God” and the collapse of Christendom is old history. Yet Christian theology shows startling resilience. This talk will consider the generative mix of pluralist, feminist and ecopolitical impulses embraced in an apophatic panentheism. Drawing on the depths of a Christian mysticism of unsaying and the constructive relationalism of process theology, such a theology opens possibility – for both theology and its world – right in the midst of apparent impossibility.

Benjamins is bijzonder hoogleraar vrijzinnige theologie aan de faculteit Godgeleerdheid en Godsdienstwetenschap van de RUG. Zijn leerstoel is nauw betrokken bij de organisatie van De Vrijzinnige Lezing.
